1. De-icing and Dust Control:

Calcium chloride dihydrate is widely used to melt ice and snow on roads, sidewalks, and parking lots, according to Wikipedia. 

It's also used as an anti-dusting agent for roads and floors. 

2. Desiccant:

Its hygroscopic nature (attracts moisture from the air) makes it useful as a desiccant in various industrial processes and packaging to prevent corrosion and degradation. 

It's also used in dehumidifiers, both domestic and industrial. 

3. Food Additive:
